In the spring of 2020, when virtually the entire world was burdened by the coronavirus lockdown, producer Rosa Ellen of the Australian public radio broadcaster ABC Radio National called for fans of The Master and Margarita from all over the world in an attempt to unlock the meaning behind Bulgakov’s novel and to understand more about its singular author.

For several months she searched, also with our help, for readers to comment on the book and how it affected them.

A plethora of interesting guests made their views known: Olga Voronina, professor at the University College London, Julie Curtis, professor at the Oxford University and author of several books on Bulgakov, Baz Luhrmann, film director, Catherine Negrutsa of the Bulgakov House in Moscow, Subhash Jaireth, writer at the University of Canberra, and Ksenia Radchenko, researcher at the University of Southern California.

More contributions came from Thomas Beyer, Boris Briker, Nancy Condee, Ray Finch, Rebecca Gault, Andrea Gulotta, Margarita Krivitsky, Elena Malysheva, Darcy Moore, Katarina Norgard, Natalia Ryzhkova, Jock Serong, Pelle Soderstrom, Alla Toff, Noa Paz Wahrman and Pany Xenophontos.
