Рестораны
The first restaurant in Moscow I ever went to, does no longer exists. It had the very appropriate name of Старая башня (Staraya bashiya) or the Old Tower because it was situated in an old tower in front of the Bolshoi Theatre. Everytime when I'm around I go back looking there with a glimmer of hope, but there is, since some years already, a sign saying that the restaurant is «temporarily closed because of technical reasons».
But never mind. There are other good restaurants in town, and there are more and more. Here's some other adresses where it is nice to be:
Café Pushkin
Tverskoy Bulvar 26 A
Metro Tverskaya
My daughter said she never ate better in her life. In October 2021, when the famous Michelin guide awarded its first stars to Russian restaurants, Café Pushkin was one of the lucky ones.
The Pavillion
Bolshoi Patriarchy lane 7
Metro Mayakovskaya
The famous yellow pavilion at the Patriarch's Pond, known from The Master and Margarita. In October 2021, when the famous Michelin guide awarded its first stars to Russian restaurants, The Pavillion was one of the lucky ones. Click on the arrow below to read more about The Pavillion.

Chistye Prudy with the Shater at the left
The above mentioned restaurants have, besides typical Russian specialties, also a wide choice of international, mainly Frenchy dishes. The quality may vary. But they are certainly nicer than the huge amount of cafetarias, snackbars and points of sale of big food chains calling themselves «restaurant».
