11 августа 2017 г.
August is traditionally the month in which most theaters present the new season. For us, it is the period in which we are looking for the new adaptations of The Master and Margarita. And the harvest for the 2017-2018 season can be considered as rich, including four different new adaptations of the novel in Germany. We can't say much yet about the quality of the productions.
The United States
On August 18, 2017, the Russian Arts Theater and Studio presents the premiere of Master and Margarita, or the Devil Comes To Moscow at the West End Theater in New York. It is the famous adaptation of Jean Claude Van Itallie, directed by Aleksey Burago. If you want to be there, you'll have to rush, because the first nine performances are already sold out.

An interesting initiative we found in France, where the Compagnie Pour ainsi dire from Paris has made Le Chat n'a que faire des souris mortes, a spectacle for children intended as a subtle exploration of good and evil, temptation and desire for freedom , Based on Faust and The Master and Margarita. From November 2017, they travel throughout France to bring their story to schools, theatres and cultural centers.
Poland
Poland is, after Russia, the country with the highest number of different theater adaptations of The Master and Margarita. By the way, Poland was also the first country, long before Russia, where stage adaptations of The Master and Margarita were created. Most of the theatres wth the play on the repertoire are having it for a long time.
Next season, we can expect representations in a dozen theaters, like the Theatre Capitol and Theatre Rampa in Warsaw, the Juliusz Osterwa Theatre in Lublin and the Teatr Groteska in Kraków.
