Mikhail Stavsky
Mikhail Stavsky (°1971) studied at the State Textile Academy in Ivanovo, and has since worked as an industrial designer, specialized in electronics and telecommunication products. He's quite successful and has won several awards.
To mark the 60th anniversary of the death of Mikhail Bulgakov in 2000, Stavsky designed a calendar with scenes from The Master and Margarita for his former employer, the telecommunications company Мурман-электросвязь [Murmanelektrosvyaz]. Given the nature of the business, it should not be surprising that the telephone plays a major role in many photos. Stavsky told us that he had another reason to choose for the theme of The Master and Margarita: the initials MM form the Roman numeral for 2000.
The photographs were made by Nikolay Zholnin (°1958), a photographer from Murmansk. Zholnin got his very first camera when he was 10 years old, and he never stopped making photos since then.
