The Polsko-Japońska Akademia Technik Komputerowych (PJATK) or Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology is a Polish Academy with schools in Warsaw, Gdańsk and Bytom. Its Faculty of New Media Arts is a product of cooperation with the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. It was set up in 2005 and offers unique studies combining artistic skills with mastery of modern information and communication technologies. A three-year undergraduate programme and a five-year combined under- and graduate programme are offered both in Polish and in English.
The curriculum combines theory and practice both in the field of information technology and visual arts. The students get acquainted with making short film forms, especially with creating special effects using 3D techniques and computer animation. The main aim of artistic education is to make students sensitive to images, because they are crucial both to computer animation and computer games. The students at the Faculty of New Media Arts also organise MOTYF, a festival which is gaining international importance.
Some of the works of the students at the PJATK’s Faculty of New Media Arts are published on YouTube. That’s where we found some animations based on scenes from The Master and Margarita. You can watch them using the menu on the right.
The movies
In our 2015 harvest, we found Anna Poszepczynska, who was inspired by the meeting of Mikhail Berlioz and Ivan Bezdomny with Woland on Patriarch’s Ponds. And so was Aleksandra Pobrotyń. Magdalena Wegiel shows the end of the Great Ball at Satan’s where Woland seals the fate of both Mikhail Berlioz and Baron Meigel, Anna Siwoń presents Woland’s Black Magic Show at the Variety Theatre, and Michał Sokołowski shows how Margarita uses Azazello's cream and flies to freedom.
In 2016, Malwina Pacek published her work with the scene in which Woland tells the story of Pilate, and in 2018 we found the story of chapter 20 from the novel, in which Woland is looking over Moscow from the Pashkov House and discusses with Matthew Levi, interpreted by Joanna Baska, a student from Grodzisk Mazowiecki.
