Andrey Filipovich Pashchenko (15.8.1885 (1883) - 16.11.1972) was born in Rostov-on-Don and he was a Russian composer. According to some sources he was born in 1883, according to others in 1885. In any case, he was a contemporary of Mikhail Bulgakov. He studied composition with Maximilian Osejevich Steinberg at the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in Petrograd (now St Petersburg), where he graduated in 1917. He was the head of several orchestras in Leningrad and moved to Moscow in 1961.
He composed nine operas, fifteen symphonies and several symphonic poems and other works for chorus and orchestra, besides ballads, songs and film music.
In 1971, Pashchenko composed the opera Мастер и Маргарита. We have, however, very little information about it.
