Bulgakov on the Arbat

Today, the Museum M.A. Bulgakov, one of the two museums at Bolshaya Sadovaya Street No. 10 in Moscow, opened a Bulgakov Scientific and Educational Centre at 35-37 Bolshoy Afanasevsky Road, Building 4. The centre is located in a side street off the Arbat. The building of the former neighborhood library was transformed into a versatile meeting place for both a wide audience of readers and researchers of Bulgakov's life and work.

The centre has several permanent exhibitions, one of which is devoted to the work of Marietta Omarovna Chudakova (1937-2021), perhaps the greatest ever connoisseur of the work of Mikhail Bulgakov and founder of the Museum M.A. Bulgakov.

There is also a lending library where you can borrow books for a maximum of 30 days, provided you purchase a reader's pass, and you can access rare documents from the archives of prominent Bulgakov connoisseurs, or expert advice for writing a school essay or dissertation. Every Sunday at 2 p.m., the centre organises street tours of the places in Moscow that were important in the writer's life.

The Bulgakov Scientific and Educational Centre is open every day from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm, except Mondays. You can reach the entrance via the Starokonyushenny Lane.
