Il maestro e Margherita - 1972
Ennio Morricone
Ennio Morricone (°1928) is an Italian composer who became very famous with his film scores. He graduated as a trumpet player at the Santa Cecilia Conservatorium in Rome. His break-through was in 1964, when his former school mate Sergio Leone hired him to write the soundtrack of Per un pugno di dollari (A Fistful of Dollars). He was nominated five times for an Academy Award, and in 2007 he received an Honorary Oscar. His name is often linked to Sergio Leone, but he wrote the soundtracks of more than 500 films and for the well-known TV-series La Piovra.
In 1972 Morricone wrote the soundtrack for The Master and Margareth, the film of Aleksandar Petrovic. The music was released on cd in 1997.
