A Mester és Margarita
Nemzeti Színház
The Nemzeti Színház is the National Theatre of Budapest, which in 2002 was moved to a brandnew building near the river Pest. Together with the Művészetek Palotája or Palace of Arts it is part of the Millennium City which was built on the last vacant piece of land on the river bank in Budapest. Originally the World Exhibition of 1996 should have had place here, but that project never was realised.
In 2005 director János Szász was asked to create an adaptation of A Mester és Margarita for the Nemzeti Színház, which is still on the repertoire.
In 2011, János Szász was asked to recreate his adaptation in Russian for the Moscow Art Theatre MKhAT, where Mikhail Bulgakov used to work as a playwright. The play is still on the repertoire.
