Ivan chases Woland's gang starting from the Patriarch's Ponds (blue). On Savelievsky pereulok 12, apartment 66, (green) he takes the icon and the candle. His chase ends «on the granite steps of the Moscow River amphitheatre». It's on the banks of the Moscow River (red), just in front of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour which, when Bulgakov was writing The Master and Margarita, was transformed into a huge swimming pool after the demolition of the original cathedral in 1931.
